To achieve our vision, we operate on three basic principles which are the core fundamental values for everything we do:
READING
Mark & Markus Island Adventure story books boasts a Caribbean outlook and stays true to the culture. In these adventures, the two main characters invite readers to explore the island through their eyes. Each book from the series addresses a moral or ethical dilemma. Cheating, stealing, bullying, lying, and fighting are all issues the two main characters have to address. Our readers are privileged to have a first-person account of the unique ways Mark and Markus choose to resolve all their issues and dilemmas.
BUILDING
YawdbwoY is a dynamic company dedicated to fostering holistic child development through an innovative fusion of literature and play. Specializing in high-quality books and engaging toys, we go beyond mere entertainment by seamlessly integrating Social Emotional Learning (SEL) principles into our products. Our commitment extends beyond shelves as we offer group workshops and tailor-made curricula designed to align with the core tenets of SEL. By leveraging the power of storytelling and interactive play, we aim to instill essential life skills such as empathy, communication, and resilience in young minds. Our workshops provide a unique blend of education and enjoyment creating an enriching environment where children not only learn but also thrive emotionally and socially. At YawdbwoY, we believe that a thoughtful combination of literature and play lays the foundation for well-rounded individuals equipped to navigate the complexities of the world with confidence and compassion. supports and encourages families to read together. We view children as naturally eager for knowledge and in a sufficiently supportive learning environment, parents, siblings, grandparents, aunts and uncles can share in the experience. The adventure of Mark & Markus is created around unique toys, activities and games. Buildable toys are then created from our two characters mythical journeys for our young readers and caregivers to assemble together. Children are now engaged and are active in independent learning and how to function in a group or team environment to build their toy.
PLAY
We place emphasis on hands on learning and developing real-world sills by making buildable toys from our signature books. Our buildable toys not only bring young readers closer to the cultural phenomenon they're experiencing with our adventure books, the toys are designed as a self-directed activity, placing emphasis on hands-on learning and collaborative play that helps expand imagination, improves motor skills, develops problem solving, cultivates patience and focus and encourages play between parent and child.
